Yes, I know that getting first page rankings is a difficult thing to do, but it’s not impossible.

If you post your question in the NPT Forum, you’re likely to get a number of replies and very helpful responses.

I own a furniture site in the UK and I am trying to get first page ranking for words like dining tables, beds, furniture, cheap furniture and so on but do not know how to do it. I come up number 1 for the phrase foys furniture. But don’t know what to do going forward.

Pinging your blog can get you top se listings in seconds.

Keeping your 1st page listing though is another matter.

I have been trying to post some information about myself and questions that I have on your Forum, but I am having a very difficult time with registration. I get passed the Username and Password portion, but it is the “code word” portion that is giving me difficulty. I have exhauasted my 3 tries, received a message to try again later. I would like to get my post information to you on your Forum now. I am happy to leave you with my Username and Password and possibly get someone in your support group to accomplish this for me, but I am not sure if you want this type of information — Username/Password — displayed in this type of a message to you. I think I am registered with your Blog, but I have never received an e-mail confirming this as specified in a message that I would be receiving a confirmation e-mail. I really want to get through this portion of my registration with your NPT affiliate program. Thank you.

In my experience (5 blogs and numerous set up for friends and clients) I think that WordPress works especially well over other blogging platforms. The way that WP lays out its content is extremely friendly to the search engines. There are also a few really good SEO friendlier themes out there for WordPress. Do a search for “SEO friendly wordpress themes”. I use the cutline theme.

There is also way more flexibility with what you can do with WP especially if you’re hosting your own version verses other platforms.

BlueHost’s hosting plan has a tool called Fantastico in it’s admin area that will automatically set you up with the latest version of WP so you don’t even have to upload the WP files to your server. (although you’ll need to upload your own themes and plug-ins)

I started my bestretirementquotes.blogspot.com to link to and promote my new website retirement-quotes.com and hope to get the website to the top fold on page 1 on Google for the search term “retirement quotes.”

After two months, the website is still around the 95th entry on the 10th page in a search on google for “retirement quotes” but the blog is the 7th (sometimes 6th) entry on page 1 (out of 244,000 webpages for this search term) on Google. It will be interesting if I can get to the top three with the blog (or the new website). I already have another webpage from an older website in the number 2 position but would like to dominate with 2 of my websites or blogs in the top 3 positions.
