Information: The Product that ALWAYS Sells

What product sells best online? What type of product turns more internet marketers (merchants and affiliates) into millionaires? What type of product will continue to sell well despite the depressed economy?

Information products!

Future of Information Marketing

I was recently asked to do an interview for the “Future of Information Marketing: Pros, Cons and Predictions” series and one of the questions asked was ‘What is YOUR vision and prediction for where the Future of Information Marketing is headed?’.

Having the weekend to mull over my reply, I couldn’t come up with a single indicator that pointed to a possible downward trend for the future of information marketing. That’s because everything (even the lousy economy) leads to increased consumption of information, especially online.

When you’re watching TV and you want to know more about a particular topic, what do you do? You go to your computer and ‘Google it’. If we need how-to information now and it’s available as a digital download, we buy it online – which explains why Clickbank affiliates are some of the most successful affiliates.

More people from all over the world are getting connected to the Internet daily, and by result, foreign language information product sales are increasing in numbers. Lousy economy or not, people need information to solve their health issues (eg. Fat Loss 4 Idiots has been a top Clickbank seller in Clickbank’s Health & Fitness category forever. In a lousy economy, more people need information to solve their financial woes.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to publish and sell information online, there is no time like the present.

Avoiding the Pitfalls or… How NOT to Waste 50K

HOW you build and promote that product is critical to your success, however. (One of the other questions I was asked in that interview was about the ‘pitfalls’ and my answer revolved around those information marketers who don’t succeed as well as they could because they either don’t have a plan or don’t follow a plan.

One example that immediately comes to my mind when I think of people who didn’t follow a plan, is about a woman I met several years ago at a conference who was desperate for my help to bring her book to market – and that was AFTER she’d already spent $50,000 (a sizeable portion of her and her husband’s retirement fund).

She obviously didn’t follow Dan Kennedy’s advice… “you need a complete strategy for putting out a product that will be ‘hot’, eagerly accepted, have staying power, provide maximum profits. There are several very smart questions that ought to be asked and answered before putting together any info-product, that rarely are.

Dan Kennedy: The Grandfather of Information Marketing

If you don’t know Dan Kennedy, he’s THE #1 authority to speak on this subject, having been called The Grandfather of Information Marketing and “the guru’s guru”. His students include multi-millionaire information marketers such as Yanik Silver, John Reese and Derek Gehl!

You don’t have to spent 50K to bring an information product to market and make it hugely successful (I know, I’ve done it).

What you need is a plan and Dan Kennedy’s home study information marketing course INFO RICHES is a collection of the highlights from his seminar which cost $3475 per person to attend.

The course normally sells for $1375. But it’s available now for $685 and until Monday December 8th at 9AM Eastern, a split-payment option is available which means you can get it for $360.

Head directly to the discounted pricing SPLIT-PAYMENT page.

Carpet Cleaner to Owner of a $117 Million Company

One of the bonuses offered is T.J. and Eileen Rohleder’s “Info Millions“, a 12-CD audio case study that looks at how these two (ex Dan Kennedy students!!) started from NOTHING and built a $117 million company.

This entire promotion not only has TJ’s $497 “Info Millions” bundled for free, but you are also handed the full LEGAL RESALE RIGHTS LICENSE to their 12-CD course. This high-value, mass-market, high-demand, professionally developed, 12-CD physical product comes with a ready-made salespage.

Make 2009 YOUR YEAR… Rich and Rewarding

If you’re stressing about your financial situation right now, using Dan’s instruction to publish your own information product in 2009 could change your life.

Dan Kennedy has been hired by Billion dollar companies for his advice. And his INFO RICHES is *the* course on the subject of how to build wealth with information marketing.

Grab INFO RICHES now for an up-front payment of only $360.

Remember, this normally retails for $1370+.

You’ll also get T.J. Rohleder’s “Info Millions”, the 12-CD detailed walk through of how he and his wife quit their jobs and built a very large income. This “Info Millions” is normally $497 but it’s included with your $360 purchase and includes resale rights.

Oh, and there’s a 30-day risk free money back guarantee.

But do not delay, this ALL closes down Monday December 8th.

Give yourself a real Christmas present this year… a rich and rewarding future in information marketing with Dan Kennedy’s INFO RICHES instruction.

P.S. This isn’t some one-time launch on a product that won’t be available or supported next week or next month. But the discounted price WILL end tomorrow, Monday December 8th at 9AM Eastern.

Ros…a friend emailed me this article. Kinda makes you think “hmmmm…”

In Lean Times, Online Coupons Catching On

    • Hi Matt,

Yes, without a doubt, the coupon affiliates are going to be scoring BIG time during this recession.

Thanks for bring that article to our attention.

      Cheers,
      Ros

  3. I have always wanted to write an eBook. Still there are a lot of ebooks that never get any attention at all. How are the ebooks with Clickbank score of 1 to 5 doing. Are they making any money?

Are there anyone looking at these products for affiliate promotion campaigns?

    • Hi Victor,

I wouldn’t choose to focus on Clickbank products that show up lower on the list of returns that are ordered according to popularity.

If you’re going to write, publish and sell a profitable information product on Clickbank, you need to focus on those that come to the TOP of the pile and figure out how they got there and why they stay there.

On the other hand, as an affiliate, I would definitely considering promoting those a little farther down the list as you won’t have as much competition from other affiliates in that particular niche market.

      Cheers,
      Ros

  4. Abel Lagran says:

How much will it cost to set up an online business?

  5. Since you are successful at affiliate marketing…. are there any products that you have created that would give the same or similar results?

    • Oh Russell, that IS the million dollar question.

I do have a book underway on the topic, that will probably be released in either January or February.

However, my book is about my success with selling my book on Clickbank, so it doesn’t cover ALL the in’s and out’s of creating information products that can be sold online and off.

Dan’s has a much broader scope.

      Cheers,
      Ros

  6. Rahul Bajaj says:

i want earn money on online but without any invesment i can’t pay anything before i earning whenever i earn the money then i’ll pay your fees, any other charges

    • Hi Rahul,

That deal might be very difficult – no, impossible – to strike up with service providers such as Bluehost hosting.

If you’re serious about starting an online business, you’ll have to find a way to put together the little bit of money that you’ll need to get started.

      Cheers,
      Ros

  7. Will says:

To anyone wanting to launch an information product: Do a quick test to see if you can get sales before you write a whole ebook, build a membership site, e-course, etc. Most people spend tons of money and months creating their product only to find that no one wants to buy it. Or your sales copy isn’t converting.

This can be done with a cheap web hosting plan, a paypal button and autoresponder. Create the first month’s content (if you sell a 6 month e-course) for example and load that content into your autoresponder. Create some google ads to get some quick traffic. If you get sales then you can start to build up the content.

    • Hello Will,

That’s an interesting approach and I have a friend who does just that to test his prospective infoproducts.. which then always get produced.

Of course, he also does a significant amount market research to ensure that potential exists before he does the market test.

My concern with that approach is in how to evaluate the initial response to the test. If only 10 people buy the $27 ebook, do you write it? Or 100? 1000? And if you decide not to proceed, then when you refund all those people, you’ve lost credibility.

I think that approach works well with small one-page review sites to which one sends PPC traffic and the tweaks are easy. But when it comes to books, I’ll personally will stick with demand research, knowing that with the right salescopy, an excellent product and proper marketing & distribution techniques – it can’t help but be a success.

      Cheers,
      Ros

  8. These are always good circles that you surround yourself with. I have been blessed to be in contact with your info for nearly 10 yrs. I remember reading about you in the “secrets to their success”. When Cory was still with us. I think you are doing an awesome job of providing great info and content for all to benefit from.

  9. Kathy says:

Ros, I lov your book,,in-fact, I’m reading it again. But, I can not buy or read anymore guru pakages!!!! I’ve spent about $4,000 over the last 5 years,,reading joining,,never earning $1.00.

I’m working on my own affiliate site, and struggling. It’s SBI, so I think I will get it done. It’s my life and future. Will people buy stuff,,I hope so. I so deserve $50 a month! Honestly, I hope I do ok.
I just can’t stand any more guys I never heard of with all the same testimonials that I read last week!!

Anyone else notice this? We just don’t need any more “internet secrets”. Like your book, Ros, we need truth.

    Thanks,
    Kathy in Colorado

    • Hi Kathy,

Thanks for your comment and sharing your experience with us.

And you’re right… less reading and joining, and taking more action with the knowledge that you already have is the real prescription for success.

      Best to you!
      Ros

  10. Bravo, Here here Jimmy,

    Yes, Ros is good company!

I was listening to Ros back when Corey invited me to his wedding. He was an original and died to young.

I have a feeling it may have been to much, to fast and to soon for his age and it sort or went to his head. A little bit like Britney Spears. If that level of success comes to soon, it can affect your judgment. To much, to young, to fast and to soon. No pun intended when I say to fast.

Whereas Ros is a Sage-Heart, and just keeps getting better!

BTW Ros, I need to send you a PM. Your old email addresses probably don’t work anymore so I will rely on Joel to pass on some personal and some business correspondence. I know you are very busy but these are some confidential things that need to be said and I trust Joel.

    Your friend always,
    Frank and Shiva

  11. Arjay Butate says:

I have written an book and have considered listing it with Clickbank. What stops me is wondering how my book would be noticed among all those others. Is there any way to contact Clickbank affiliates and let them know you have a new book that suits their interests?

    • Hi Arjay,

While Clickbank merchants cannot contact affiliates via the Clickbank interface directly, if you create an affiliate signup page on your site that includes an email capture form, you’ll be able to contact THOSE affiliates.

That said, when it comes to marketing an ebook, it’s best to be proactive and get in touch with potential partners. Send review copies of your book to a few of the big players in your niche with a relatively short note of introduction and instructions on how to get their affiliate link to promote if they don’t have a Clickbank account.

      Cheers,
      Ros

  12. Shawn says:

    Hey Roz,

Just stopped by to let you and other affiliates know I did my blog theme over and I also got the NEW Google friend connect, which I invite you and everyone else to join. Shawn Collins is the 1st friend, and Joel Comm, Brook Schaaf, Chris Knight, Charles Trippy and a few more are on their way on over to sign up for my new Google connect social affiliate network. See you soon! :-)

    Shawn

  13. Rosalind,

Thank you for your post. Really informative and real.

Yes, Dan is a great guy and his products are worth every penny one spends.

Furthermore, I loved your advice on how to promote your ebook when you are relatively unknown.

    Cheers

  14. TW Jackson says:

Good to see you’re still contributing Rosalind, I’m sure by now you don’t need to. I remember buying your super affiliate handbook many years ago when I was 17… I felt it was a little bit over my head at the time and didn’t put it to use, but you’re still the one who made me aware of affiliate marketing…

  15. Oops… when I read your email, I thought it was a product we should promote…

Anyway, Dan Kennedy is the man to go, like a couple of others, Armand Morin, Rich, John, Yanik and Eben…

    Franck

  16. Some people were not really being successful with affiliate marketing. Different ebooks sold on different techniques and yet there still unlucky ones weren’t able to hit the target on which sells the most. Great post Rosalinda, it will give inspiration and ideas to someone out there.

  17. Hi, thanks for writing that post. I have just found your site and You have a new subscriber(me). By the way I’ve been blogging about my own weight loss and
    weight loss help
I would really apprectiate it if you could check out my site and let me know what you think.
    Thanks,
    Joan

  18. Rundll Error says:

It seems like Clickbank has improved their tracking and payment processor problems which is good news for both publishers and affiliates!

  19. In response to the comment above, I am not sure Clickbank has improved their payment structure. But what I did realize is that this morning if anyone went onto their Clickbank account they noticed they would have to agree to a new “terms and conditions”. So hopefully they are making the proper changes!

  20. Great article. I give my product away for free. I’m wondering if you could touch on internet advertising dollars in a future article. That would be super informative. – RBP

  21. Milton says:

    Hi Rosalind,

I wish I could have you in front of my computer all the time. You are truly a blessing! I wish everyone who has a success like you are willing to put the self-discipline and passion to give the truth – while making money of course.

Information product is great. Some expert suggested to promote one info product on one domain. Do you have any suggestions? I mean if I am interested in multiple products, I don’t see why I need to have multiple domains. As long as the site evolve around one theme, in your experience would it be better to focus them all into one domain?

    Thanks,

    Milton

    • Hi Milton,

Thanks much for your kind comment.

Regarding where to promote information products… if you are an affiliate, you can definitely promote more than one on your domain provided your site is related to the topic of the book.

As a merchant however – one book, one domain – especially if you want to have affiliates promote your product. If they see links to other products for which they don’t get credit for the referal, then they won’t promote.

      I hope that helps!

      Cheers,
      Ros
