Not sure what the attraction is for video marketing. For my opinion on video marketing, see http://chl-tx.com/instructorsview/video-internet-cancer/

Short version: I can read much faster than I can listen. That’s probably the only reason that visitors stay on a site longer; they have to. Video and audio are basically a waste of time. In fact, I typed this while “listening” to your video.

        TXCHLInstructor,

I appreciate your comment. I too prefer to read. However, the younger generation has no patience for reading text. Video is where it’s at. Wise marketers do both.

        Cheers,

          Not Really,
As a youngster (is 22 considered as young?) to get more information about Internet Marketing, marketing, or even any other educational information, I prefer reading with some informative graphic like charts, diagram or even cliparts.

Maybe because English is not my first language, I need to concentrate more when I want to learn something new with video. While reading text, I can skim the article and still get the whole idea in few minutes.

For me, Video is for entertainment purpose only.

Actually, (while people don’t necessary reveal their true age online) most people on my blog actually hate it when I post a video rather than content. They too ask the same question: “Why video?”

So I am really not sure how far your comment is true! :D
          Personally even I don’t like videos! ;)

Always look forward to and enjoy your informative videos and other observations on the affiliate sector.

Hope to gather up enough information (and confidence) to actually get up and running in the new year.

Many thanks for your cheerful predictions!

        Hi Bill,

Funny, I used to call myself ‘just plane crazy’ when I was an aircraft spotter. :-)

As for confidence, here’s a tip that got me through air traffic control school way back – bullshit baffles brains. i.e. act like you know what you’re doing. :-)

Sooner or later (hopefully sooner) you’ll believe in yourself as much as others believe in you!

        Cheers,

Rosalind, I agree that video plays a big role in conversion. It builds credibility more effectively than written words (if it’s done right).

Sigh… since I have a face for radio, I guess I’ll have to apply lots of makeup. Any recommendation? :)

Ros, looking at your youtube 2009 Prediction stats you captured 16,000 views. I would say it would be an easy choice for me to take your advice over TXCHLInstructor (I did read his article and I did buy your ebook.)

I’m a Generation X’r and I did a poll last week of my peers, Gen Y and older investment clients.

      Question:
I asked if they would rather read an in-depth 1,000 word article or watch a 5 minute video that was on the same topic.

      Answer:
90% of them said they would rather watch the video.

      Question:
Then I asked if they could view video on their cell phones.

      Answer:
      70% said they could.

Did I send this poll by e-mail or post it on my blog?
      Nope.

I sent two text messages to 50 people using google voice with a 100% open response rate (this goes to your mobile prediction).

According to John Reesse, using a mixture of video and text bullets is key to conversations.

So the next day, I uploaded a review on the speech recognition software that I used

I received my first-ever Amazon sale that day. Happy Dance!

Now back to trying to that Default Widget message out of the header of my blog.

      Moving Forward,

      Kendall E. Matthews, 602.492.6043

Ps. My 2010 Resolution… 90% of my blog will be learning-based video and audio presentations.

      Ms Gardner;

Very good You Tube video! Thank you for your predictions for 2010, but I tend to be a little skeptical about the economy, as I see a lot of conflicting information.

I think there is a lot of “misinformation” coming out of the White House and specifically from what I fondly call the, “Chicago gangsters” at large. It’s a little scary that they say the housing market is improving and so are jobs when unemployment keeps going up and President “O” approves billions more for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (today) to keep the mortgage industry from slipping more into the toilet, and our communist investors confident we have more money they can suck out of us.

I’m just a lowly citizen, so I don’t understand the philosophy of “spending” our way out of debt. The way I was taught to get out of debt was, “don’t spend!” To follow our President’s and Congress’s example, I guess I should go out and get another credit card and create more debt to have less debt in the end. Huh?

Unfortunately, I’ve got a gut feeling its all going to come home to roost. Well, if it does people may stay home more and instead of spending it all at Wal-Mart, they may go online and buy through our sites so we have more cash to boost the economy when loan interest rates match default credit card rates and inflation skyrockets where the average citizen can’t afford a loaf of bread and needs to stand in bread lines once again.

Well, that’s a hell of a way to end 2009, but God willing I’m wrong and 2010 will be a prosperous and peaceful year. Based on my track record I probably am wrong, as I’ve got an unused 7,000 watt generator, 3 empty 55 gal water drums, 10 five gallon gas cans and a closet full of canned food that I didn’t need for Y2K.

Hey, don’t worry though, 2012 is just around the corner and the Mayan calendar ends along with the end of civilization; doesn’t it? I’m just to old to worry about all those soothsayers, so I’m just going plank it on the porch and have a Budd to ya.

God bless, and Happy New Year!
      Richard

Affiliate marketing predictions for 2010 is good, I would also say MLM is also good to have them both only creates another stream of income many are offering cars and money using some of the information taught in Affiliate Marketing could be use in MLM.

I have a daughter in college she tried to sell Avon and gave up I thought what could have gone wrong here. So I asked her what was some of the remarks people were saying? She said they told me it was to expense. Then it hit me like a ton of brick what Greg Cesar had said when he was talking about finding your niche as Mrs. Gardner did as she talked about in her book at http://superaffiliatehandbook.com

I wonder If Mrs. Gardner sent Greg a copy anyway Greg said the poorest people on earth are college students.

Well I said she had to find a better market. She said she quit. Now that was back in the summer, Now 90 days later she comes home she did some thing in class on Twitter and is out of over a 1,630,000 is number 4 on front page now if use
the same system for any MLM she would not have to look for a job after college.

      Hi Ros,
Hoping NOT to do a lot of writing here like the last time on you blog leaving a comment then have it disappear. My bad.

I will be driving through Texas later in 2010 now realize how some Texans short wicked as some seem and carrying? I will leave my brazen honesty back in Boston.

Although my future market is Baby Boomers, video is enjoyed by all markets and easy to view even if you aim at one you can attract others it is the way to go.

Once I figure out how to use this here MacBook’s video software I’ll be using my YouTube account. I’m a PC where there is not much of a learning curve. Time for another Dummies book and a review.

Finishing your ebook before my Return to NAMS 3 at the end of January, along with Trust Agents are my top priorities.

Hope we all have a Great New Year.

Exactly Nadia. I prefer entertainment stuff (movies, music) to be in video and audio formats respectively, but education would have to be in text, lol.

I believe that it is the product author who has to benefit with video formats mostly. Think about it, how long does it take to shoot a medium-length video? Compare that with the time it takes you to write a PDF report of 10 pages. You will get the idea. Moreover to write text you generally need to have a good command over the language; with video it is not all that important (there are so many videos on Youtube which are popular even though the speakers have terrible English accent/spelling knowledge)

Also, videos can be priced at least three times higher than plain text. I dunno why, but people seem to perceive videos as of higher value than text.

      Hi Rosalind

I can see the advantages of video marketing, there’s direct presentation, and video carries an extra level of ‘authenticity’ because we can actually see the person putting forward the info. However, the real benefit of online communication has always been hypertext and of course that’s missing. When you talk about Forrester research I really want a link to take me directly to that information.
This has been a truly revolutionary technological breakthrough for textual information that we have all come to rely on.
So I don’t think video is always the answer.
Thanks for the presentation and happy New Year.

We study search demand/supply trends from around the world to find profitable niches and products, and the main problem with predictions is that no one looks at the “supply” side to these predictions. A niche, or hot predictions, is not just a demand side issue, but a supply/demand curve. If you predict IPHONE apps will take off, and there are already 100,000 aps, then you aren’t going to hit that one. If you see that demand for cell phone radiation shields is going nuts and there are only two suppliers, then you can be pretty sure that it will be a good year for those 2 supplies. Our software studies both the demand (search volume) and supply (think “results” in Google). The Google Phone is generating much more buzz right now then say the Apple Tablet.
      Cheers,
      Curt

I personally will always watch a video over reading. I would actually like to start a set of videos this year as a personal goal of mine to see how they do. Now when it comes to affiliate marketing I always think the predictions are kind of funny. Most of the advice I see out there does not get into the details and seems like everyone is making money giving advice on making money and how to do affiliate marketing. I would like to see more details from people actually getting into the specifics of how they are making money and on exact products and programs. Maybe I am missing something but it is always so general that I don’t think most people can really connect the dots I think a detailed video with specifics would be worth its weight in gold versus a long winded very high level general summary in writing.

      Happy New Year to everyone!
I am sure the video is great, but here in Spain adsl connections are not too good/fast and after waiting 3 minutes the video still has not opened, neither on this site nor on You Tube itself. I could have read it a dozen times in this time! I am sure video has its advantages and will certainly be very powerful in the future. We will certainly be putting videos of all our villas on our website in the next few months. BUT we will keep the pictures and descriptions as well, so that those without good enough connections to see the videos can read the content instead. I would love to know what Ros’ predictions are – I am just guessing from the comments I have read here.
