I am 64 yrs old and I am sitting here wondering if I am too old to start an affiliate business. You see I am one of those victims from the fraudulent wall street investors that got me for over 2 million dollars. They stole my total retirement. I own a window and siding company in michigan but time is not on my side.
I've been told that I could go after the window and siding niche to try and produce more local leads through the internet. I don't know. I have talked to so called lead experts but I wasn't impressed with their results.
I would at least like to build an internet business bringing me in the equivalent of monthly income of what the 2 million would have produced in investments.
I have a natural respect and like for truly serving people and giving them value. I would lean to a lot of added video presenting with my other content.
Should I even start at this age-----can I produce internet leads for my window company and have an affiliate business as well that will give me mobility to travel and make money.
If I could generate more leads for my window company then I could hire a sales person and teach them to sell.
Thank You ---I hope you see another route for me

Hi Pierre,

You'd get the experience by actually jumping in there and tackling projects which you know you can handle. Remember, YOU pick the projects on which you want to work, so you don't need to worry about being chosen for a project that you can't handle.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Ros

Hi Liam,

Niche selection is one thing each blogger must do on his or her own. I think the questions you should ask yourself are:

1) Does the market have money to spend?
2) Can I see myself still blogging about this subject in 5 years?

Hope that eases the spin somewhat. :-)

Cheers,
Ros

Hi Ros,
I have been intending to build a web based business for years and feel it is now or never. I have purchased your book, The Super Affiliate Handbook, and have read it from cover to cover, making notes. I am going to re-take Christina Hill's Website Creation Workshop beginning later this month.

But I don't feel my main problem is creating the web site, with all the tools that are available. What has my head spinning is niche identification. I have been training Microsoft Office for years and love it. But when I Google Microsoft Excel, I get millions of hits. It is frightening. I also have been into photography for years. I have been a private pilot for years. My wife has been into gardening for years. I have a relative who is an extremely experienced traveler and is the lightest packer and can ferret out the lowest budget trips imaginable.

Can you see my head spin? I know it is such a tough question, but can you help me with niche selection? (I am re-reading the section of your excellent book on this.)

Thank you,

Hi Rosalind,

I am a developer/programmer and wanted to make money online. I'm not really good in coming up with ideas. I've tried researching stuff on how to make money online but really don't know where to start. I've also tried doing freelance programming and can deliver but thinking that I still don't have enough experience to work on freelancing sites. Any help with my problem?

Thank you.

Hello Rosalind,
I've been trying at affiliate marketing since August and have my first site,a cooking and recipe site, using SBI (Really love that program). I just purchased your Affiliate guide handbook and much of the info I've already learned through SBI. However, there are a few good tidbits here and there.

My problem, and question,is driving traffic to the site. I know the different ways,, which I still need to do many, but I wanted to use PPC to start the ball rolling.

1. I'm on Yahoo/Microsoft but my ad isn't getting many impressions and therefore, clicks. How many keywords, on average, do you use when running a PPC ad? Do you use keywords that may not apply to the landing page, but still apply to the general site? I'm promoting the "cooking meat" page. Do I use only keywords pertaining to that, which limits the number, or should general keywords such as "cooking" "recipes" etc?

2. I tried AdWords but my site was rejected, and here is my question. Google says I'm violating their policy because my review pages go to Amazon only. I don't give the customer a choice of places to buy. There are other reasons that I agree with (such as no original reviews, just copied specs from Amazon, no place for readers to submit comments), but this reason stumps me.

On your review sites, do you give readers a choice on where to go to buy the products? This seems pretty ridiculous if they want you to do this.

They call this page a bridge page: http://www.easyrecipesforbusycooks.com/cooking-meat.html because the product I've listed, the "cooking meat book" doesn't give the customer options to buy the book at different vendors, nor do I give the customer pros and cons of different vendors, etc.

Do you see anything wrong with that page?

FYI, the concept of promoting affiliate products is simple, and review sites seem like a great way to go. Yet, based on my current issues with Google, I don't see how a review page would pass their guidelines.

Thanks

Based upon certain claims and a false sense of urgency, I recently purchased a new software product called, Commission Tsunami, for which the first of two payments is $547.00. After watching all the tutorials over 3 days, I determined that this product doesn't fulfill the image I was given; there are additional costs involved in using it; the 24 hour purchase deadline was a lie; and other questionable selling techniques were used to manipulate a quick purchase. Viewers were encouraged to try it and there was no mention of a "No Refund" policy in the promotional video. My requests for a refund has been declined. What resources are available to me now, besides a costly lawyer? Thanks much.

Hello Anis,

Writing your own content is always best. Article spinners create worthless junk for the most part - so I don't recommend using them.

Cheers,

Hi Ros,

Is the Article Announcer software also used for creating content - I mean for writing articles?

What are your views on using article writing software for writing articles?

Thanks,
