WordPress.com is not the same as a WordPress blog installed on your own domain — which you already have, so you don’t need to worry.

I am a newbie and a little confused abut this post. I am trying to do affiliate marketing and this is my first blog. I am hoping to have more in the future. I bought my domain name from Go Daddy, paid host through Bluehost, and blog at WordPress and have affiliate links. Am I at risk for being deleted? What else do you use besides WordPress? I don’t go through Bluehost c-panel every time I update. Should I? Thanks so much for any help!!!

Hi Pat,
Sorry, I’m bit of a newbie here. Just want to be clear: Since I have Just Host for my blog hosting and I installed WordPress with Fantastico, I should be OK to affiliate with AdSense and Amazon?
Wordpress doesn’t have the control to bring down my site in this particular situation, only direct or free WordPress hosting is affected?

Good awareness for people using free hosting blog. IMO, Is always good to self-hosted wordpress blog because lots of customization you can do with it and without much limitation.

A similar thing happened to me some time ago. I had months worth of aff content on my wp blog and they earned me hundreds each month. They didn’t suspend my blog, but they redirected all my aff links to one of their TOS Pages. So, yeah, if you wanna use free blogs for affiliate marketing, I hope you will visit this page before you actually do it.

Actually as free web hosting owner I can say one thing. You can try our service and ignore wordpress.com. For those who just started their business we will help to setup the wordpress blog and other technical things. I want to give a good review of webs.com, though. I had a competitor making false claims that I was sending unsolicited email in an attempt to get my sites shut down. Hey, I don’t even use email marketing, strictly search engines!

Anyway, webs.com sent me a notice to quit spamming or my sites would be shut down and I notified them of the situation. I appreciate good customer service. I think they are the only service that communicates with their customers.

I agree with Howell. WordPress is the best platform to get your feet wet when your in any affiliate market business. I personally enjoy it more since google likes to rank it better
