Have noticed several mentions about a "squeeze" landing page. Could any give me a quick rundown on what constitutes a squeez page?
Also, in relation to Google's affiliate policy, which seems to clearly state that redirects, frames, etc which send the visitor directly to the merchant's site are not allowed.
I have noticed a couple of affiliates promoting the same product as our site have Clickbank hoplinks in their destination URL.
We use Affiliate Link Cloaker to cloak our affiliate links - are we able to use the linked page (which displays an address on our own website) as the destination URL in Google Adword?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Hello Jean,
Using a 'squeeze page' that then directs to your merchant is just a little more work, but a whole lot more lucrative than sending traffic from Adwords directly to the merchant site.
What you want to do is create a newsletter signup form that promises (and of course GIVES) more information on the topic.
Once they've subscribed, they are then re-directed to the merchant site.
The downside is that visitors may not want to enter their name and email address into a form, unless it is highly detailed and promises LOTS of good information in return.
Compare that with setting up an endorsement page that has an objective product review and the option to look at similar products on the site... AND includes a newsletter signup form on every page.
I will always favor the latter approach, lots of affiliates make good money using the other two approaches as well.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,

Ok, now I'm very confused. I thought the whole idea of using affiliates on our website is so that we link the visitor "directly" to the item were trying to sell. That is what I was hoping to do to make money. Now your saying if we have google ads on our site, we can't also do that?
Would it be better then to not have google ads?
It seems this job is going to need some computer geek to figure it all out about squeezing, or cloaking, etc... |

Hi Jodi,
I think we need to get the terminology correct first...
We put affiliate links on our sites which link to 'merchant' site and products.
There is a difference between Google Adwords and Google Adsense.
You (the affiliate) use Adwords to advertise your site.
You'd put Adsense on your site to earn money from other advertisers ads.
Squeeze pages are described above.. and link cloaking is discussed elsewhere.
Hope that helps a little.
Cheers,
