I have been researching affiliate marketing for a month now. What I see is a lot of hype such as "Make $30,00 per month now". I know that 95% of people in the internet business fail. I have a couple of offline businesses that are doing fine because of years of hard work and stress.

I'm willing to put the effort in. The question is can I really make real money in this field with my own website etc. By real money I mean at least $10,000 per month, otherwise it is not worth my time.

thanks in advance

You need to seriously get real, dude.

$10,000 a month is possible, but only after years of hard work.

I wouldn't say "years" of hard work.
Although it does take that for some.
(myself included, LOL)

It depends on the person.
But if you have a couple of successful offline businesses,
then you knew that already Wink

There is no such thing as "get rich quick".
But after learning, and applying yourself,
you CAN "suddenly get rich".
THAT I promise you.

The web is real.
Billions prove it every day.
And just like magazines and tv,
any media can be used to convey a message.
It's up to you to believe in your message and convey it right.

Read Ros's Super Affiliate Handbook.
It's NOT a hype up and motivate kinda book.
Instead, if you really want to know,
it will give you the facts.
Show you how to run the numbers in a spreadsheet.
And give you the url's needed to get started.
VERY wise place to start your journey.

AND... keep us posted, K?
We are here to help YOU.
It's part of the package my friend Wink

Chat later.
Brad.

The question that I would like some clue to is whether members of this forum, marketers that is, are making enough money to be happy and quit their jobs?

I have come to realize that afflilate program marketing is an extremely competitive business and learning about web hosting, SEO, tags, adwords, adsense and so on. I even have a mental picture of whatt my website should look like and have some idea of merchants to affiliate with. I'm not afraid of hard work, but one thought that keeps bugging me is whether it will pay off. I'm not interested in making $500 bucks a month though.

Are you all happy with the results of your work? Is it worthwhile? Are any of you making say $40,000 to $75,000 per year, which to me is not an unreasonable amount of money.

thanks in advance!

I'm going to jump in and find out on my own?

I don't think anyone is comfortable with giving exact numbers.
And I have'nt done my taxes yet anyway Rolling Eyes

But I'll tell you this much.

Iv'e been online for about 8 to 10 years.
Spent most of them frustrated.
But didn't give up... a BIG point.

The last 5 years have been profitable.
But not untill '06 did anything really break for me.

I don't want to spoil my plans here,
so I'm going out of my way for you Wink
Because I have a HUGE discovery to reveal soon.
( see sig file )
But I will say this much...

I punched my very last time clock over 6 months ago.
My bills are paid, and I provided my family with the best Christmas of our lives this year.

You couldn't DRAG me back to the way things used to be!!!

... yeah, it's worth it.

WAY!! Cool

I guess I'm just frustrated. Doing research on affiliate marketing and internet marketing in general is frustrating and so overwelming it's unbelievable. There is so much hype, trickery and plain lying it's a circus out there.

One of the reasons, I got drawn to this site was because of Rosalind's straight forward, no BS, almost homey, style of writing. It's a great site full of affiliate candy. The way the site flows doesn't even suggest that she is selling anything, but she is. The site is magical in that respect.

Anyway, I'm going to do some more leg work, get some web creation software and just go ahead and give it a whirl with my business plan.

Wish me luck........................

I have learned a lot about affiliate marketing in the past month or so. Despite the fierce competition in this field of endeavor, I'm determined to succeed. In my own business, property management, it was a rough start at the age of 19 while in university and scrambling for cash to pay bills. My parents were not very supportive of higher education. But motto "don't give up" works after being self-employed for over 30 years.

The way I have my property management business right now is that it basically runs on auto-pilot. This has left me with lots of time to explore other opportunities, one being internet affiliate marketing. I also trade stocks as well.

I'm also attracted this internet business because of the rediculously low overhead involved. Web hosting is cheap as a Super-size Big Mac meal per month, The software available is free or cheap. Compared to a real brick and mortar business expenses are almost non-existent.

The internet marketing business offers great income potential without all the problems associated with conventional businesses like making sales, promotions, getting new clients, staff, office space (you need a nice office if you run a convental business, believe me}loans, collections and payables and on and on. Most conventional small businesses in North America average about $50,000 in profit for the whole year. And you have to work like a dog sometimes. I know and done this and that.

That's the end of my rant.

By the way Rosalind lives close to Apex mountain, one of my favorite ski places. Really nice powder there right now.

Rosalind, thanks a lot for all the valuable information on your site. And may you keep inspiring us "newbies".

"Bingo".

The reason I say that the first lesson I learned in business
was the most valuable one I ever learned.
ie: "never never give up".

I've had 3 business names.
And I've fallen on my face enough to leave bruises Laughing
But something in me wouldn't let me give up.
I saw the potential.
Finally I just decided to just "fail faster".

Kevin Wilke taught me something.
He calls it the 90% factor.
That is...
90% of the trial we face when trying to grow,
is strictly in ourselves, and our view of our own worth.
Growth is growth in ANY part of our lives.
And it's never easy.

Chose your lesson!
...the best advice I can give you.

Don't let ANYone steal your time with bull*%#@ promises,
instead, seek the lessons that fit into your plans.
And loose the rest.

If you don't have a business to apply it to,
what good is learning all that useless stuff anyway?

Be specific in what you are trying to learn.
Ask questions in groups like this one.
And learn to search out information that you need.

Believe it or not.
It's all out there.

... even the truth Wink

Keep us posted!!

ivanyis,

I just had to comment as I had the exact same thoughts a couple of years back.

As most people I'd say.

I'm not living of the internet myself (even though I have that as a goal), but
I 've had +$xx.xx months during the last 2 years.

Hitting a nice day, week or month isn't impossible in any way. But building up a secure residual income stream is much harder.

Why so?

Because one have to actually treat online marketing as a business.

Most guides, tutorials, courses and ebooks are pure tactics.

Use this tool to blog, use this to create web pages, format your adsense ads this way for higher ctr, use red in headlines, hte money is in the list and so on.

Some actually try to get into strategies (and this is what will get you a stable increasing income). Rosalind sneak in strategies whiel explaining tactics, Steven Pierce is one of the most strategic guys I've seen (but it's not as cool as the scripts and tools by themselves).

One little advice I have worked out for myself is when you do something (and you have some sort of plan why you're doing it, right!?), always plan it in a way so that the outcome is something with as small demands as possible of you in time and money, easy to maintain and whatever it does, should give something of value back (not talking about happiness here).

Here's an example,

You set up a site. Why?

To sell things. To who?

What happens after they buy? You sign them up for an autoresponder.

What should it do? Keep them reading and buying more things and sign up for other autoresponders you have ...

And so on.

It's so easy to slap up a site, put up an ad, push some people there and collect some money and be done with it (partly an adsense problem for example).

So even with adsense, work on signing people up on the same site, use ads, move things around, but always try to lead visitors one step further by holding their hand so they can't get away.

I've said it before and I say it again.

Read Rosalind SAH, think about tactics (tools, tricks, format, software and so on) but also note how she uses strategy (connecting ppc -> sites with residual affiliate programs -> signups -> blog -> forum and so on).

She here for us (looking around ...Hi Ros!).

Finally let me say YES!

As an answer to, can you earn a monthly income. I've been at it long enough to personally know people in the biz that makes six figure monthly. I agree, that's not easy nor for everyone. But reaching $10.000 is not impossible in any way. Especially for someone that have real time businesses.

Forget the shortest path (quick money=insecure money). Build over time, do it well done and income will come.

Kenth

Affiliate Marketing is a billion dollar market. But it is mostly dominated by the super affiliates. 95% of the income is shared by the 5% of the people. (Atleast i guess it). But if you can really work hard, it will definitely pay.

Having had both online and offline businesses - maybe I will be able to help. U say that 95% of online businesses fail, but according to statistics so do 95% of offline business. I do have doubts about some of those statistics but I will not go into them here.

If you've started a bricks and mortar business before, starting an online business will be no different. It will still be tough in the beginning, but, it is a lot easier once you've done it once - even if it's a completely different type of business.

If your other business is running on auto-pilot, it will be even easier for you, as you will have more time, and money to devote to a second business. It's certainly worth giving it a shot.

Wow, what's great posts over here!

I would like to add a few things.

1. Personally, I strongly believe that there are a lot of opportunities to earn money on the internet. I am sure that affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to earn money online. Of course, there are a lot of scams and hypes out there whereas there are also great tips, workable techniques and proven tactics to help you to build your own affiliate business. All you have to do for learning is to find the most reliable sources to start, build, run and grow your business. Rosalind's ebook is a great place to start with.

2. To success and earn huge affiliate commission in affiliate marketing, it requires you to: be patient, be consistency and be strategic.

3. Only you can determine how much money you can earn on the internet. No one can tell you that your affiliate business is successful and you can earn huge of money online better than yourself!

Hope these help! Smile
