I just received an e-mail from Shawn Casey promoting something called List Bandit. It is a service that is supposed to either give your access to or help you build a huge list such as in the thousands almost immediatley. I read the sales page on the website but don't really understand how it works. Has anyone heard of this? I think it probably is too good to be true. It may just get people mad and get you some spam complaints.

Hi Brian1950,

Well, you know what they say about something that sounds too good to be true, eh?

I'd stick with conventional list building techniques to stay on the safe side.

Cheers,
Ros

It is not how big is your list, it is just that how responsive it it? Develop it slowly by offering ecourses, newsletters or free reports. You will be good to go ...

A super large list is of no value if it consists of nothing but "throw-away" email addresses- you know, those email addresses that you use with no intention of ever checking them just so that you can get the freebie that is being offered. It is better to build a good responsive list by offering good information and collecting the email addresses of those who are genuinely interested in what you have to offer. It may take awhile but your emails will be more apt to be actually read.

This comment is a little late, but I check out most of these "list building" programs to see whether or not they're different to all the others.

They never are.

They're full of "desperate and doughless" people looking for fast profits using outrageous offers.

When you appeal to these five most common triggers...
  • greed
  • fear of loss (losing what you have or missing out on what you don't have)
  • laziness
  • ignorance
  • gullibility (= blind faith + mindless optimism)

... guess what kind of people you attract?

Yep -- greedy, desperate, lazy, ignorant, stoopid people who wouldn't work in an iron lung!

It's a vicious circle. (A downward spiral, actually.)

Sure, some people make very good use of these systems to build lists of BUYERS who live on false hope of one day becoming sellers.

A tectonic shift in mindset and attitude will be required first: usually going broke is it.

All parasites eventually kill off their hosts and have to move on to the next one. It's the natural order. So new versions of these systems keep emerging.

But we're human beings. We're supposed to be rational and capable of objective reason. The fact is, whether we end up as parasite or host (victim) is ultimately a choice: both are 100% voluntary.

The real point I'm trying to make is that neither is compulsory. There are other choices. Like success... when you do only the right things for only the right reasons. (You just need to KNOW what the right things and right reasons are.)

With any of these list builder programs you are sending offers to other people who joined that program so they could send offers.....

Doesn't make sense, does it? The only winners are the owners of these type of sites. They get a huge list of marketer wannabees to sell to. Everyone who signs up is in their downline.

These things should go the way of Safelists and FFA, IMO.

The most overlooked method of building lists right now is Social Media, ie Facebook, Twitter, and the like.
