Hi Curtis

To use Twitter in your online business effectively, here are a few questions to ask yourself:

Are you planning to use Twitter for business or socially?
Do you want to drive traffic to your site?
Do you want to use Twitter to network with your customers or other webmasters in your market?

Once you decide how you want to use Twitter, I'm sure you'll have no problem coming up with ideas for tweets whether they be general statements, questions, or answers.

I hope that helps a little.

Cheers,
Ros

Hi Curtis,

I have had 18 people sign up for my website just from Twitter alone in the past month. This is a big deal because I only have 20 followers (people who read my tweets) and I KNOW at least 1/2 of THEM have not signed up for my site so at least 10 of them came from seeing replies to my tweets to other tweeters. Let me explain...

I think the key to marketing with Twitter is following some really good and active tweeters. I really like mrachievement (I also follow Ros and several good super affiliates but they are not my target audience but more for informational purposes). His posts are useful and he has 3,243 people following him. A lot of his followers are looking to lose weight so that works well with my site. See the connection?

So here is the trick (as far as what has worked for me) start following someone who has a lot of followers... then reply to some of the things he says. If he/she is a good tweeter they will reply to you and then ALL of the people who get his/her tweets will see the reply to you. Some may be curious and click on your name to see what you're all about and VOILA! you're marketing.

For more information on how to reply to tweets see Twitters FAQ. It's really simple. Smile

Tweet on dude!

I Twitter a lot. It is a great way to engage in meaningful conversations with other people in your niche.

Don't overlook this: Twitter posts can be recycled in so many ways - my Tweets end up in friendfinder, my blogs, and my facebook profile.

I see this mistake often: Tweeting only when you have something to sell. Twitter is a place where you can get to know people. The sell sell sell mentality will get you removed from many who might follow you. Me for instance.

Twitter is like a giant party with many conversations going on at once. Contributing to that and just being yourself will take you a long way there.

LowellRieger (my twitter name)

P.S. I corrected the spelling of Twitter on the thread.

Curtis159 -

Your Tweets are probably vaporizing. It happens to everyone. Twitter has grown so fast that they are often overcapacity and your Tweets just disappear.

I usually copy the Tweet from the message box just before I post it, if Twitter seems to be having issues. If it doesn't take, I can paste it into notepad and try a little later.

That is a good idea. I use that method of "backup" on other forms too, like comments, support, or anywhere I put a lot of time into typing something and would not want to start over.

When there is a problem, I can paste the note into notepad and try again later.
