Hello
I will be writting an ebook and giving it a shot at this type of business.
I have a few questions
1) How do you price your info product?
2) Any experience (besides Rosalind's ) with DLGuard? Is it really needed, it is an all-in one product, it seems to include a shopping card?
3) Any experience with How to Create and Sell Infoproducts Toolkit? reviews?
Thank you! |

I look for similar products to see what they offer and compare them to what I have. Along with that I see what their selling price is. If my product offers more benefits than theirs, I can test market it with a higher price. Otherwise, I keep the price at or close to theirs.
The bottom line here is what you are offering that is different to others and what the perceived value is. That is determined by how well you write the sales letter.

DLGuard is good for products you want to protect from just anyone downloading. Keep in mind that every time the document or program is opened, DLGuard calls home to see if you are authorized to view it. The last time I checked there was a monthly cost for the service. That service pays for itself if you sell enough products or eBooks each month.
Ebooks are often passed around. Without DLGuard, having links to back-end products in them will help recover the costs of piracy.

I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of eBooks maybe one on how to create them. But that was a long time ago. What I do instead is look at how others are formatted and what I would want in an eBook to make my reading more pleasurable.
Anything with multiple topics, longer than 10 pages, should have an index. I like the indexes that are linked to the various sections so I can get there easily.
A 12 or 14 point font is also good for reading, along with single spacing. I have seen eBooks with larger font sizes and double spaces just to increase the number of pages in the book. Steer clear of that tactic.
Hope that helps. |

I have read somewhere it is not a good idea to sell info products until you have developed the skills to sell somebody else's products as affiliate marketing.
What do you think? Am I setting myself up for failure and should hold on on producing and selling info products for now until I have some sucess on article marketting? |

If you can sell products for others, then you can sell your own. The biggest difference that I see is that affiliate marketing requires less overhead. Both types of sales require learning how to sell.
Article marketing has just become popular in recent years. Before that, many other types of marketing were, and still are, used successfully.
The only way you are setting yourself up for failure is by doing nothing at all. Where you start depends on your experience with the product you want to sell, or the information you are writing the book about.
If the book requires more research and you want to get started sooner than it will be finished, then start with affiliate marketing and get experience with it. Otherwise, finish the book and put it online.
Note that affiliate marketing can help fund your research and writing time while the book is being written. When the book is done and selling, the affiliate marketing can be supplemental to the book sales.
Who else has thoughts on this? |

Can someone help me build a check list?
Let me get it started
1) Select a theme and determine demand/competition -
Done, my infoproduct is on children's health, as a mom I have determined the same questions go unanswered on mothering forums and when talking to other moms offline.
2) Write the ebook
I have no problems here, I am decent writer, and I feel confident I can match the quality of similar products out there.
I can always learn what to include to generate upsells, but in general I am in good shape here
3) Create the downloable document. I own a copy of studio from Adobe 8 which I believe has software to create online books. I would need to learn how to use it.
3) Website. Ok, this is where I get nervous. This is my weakness. I guess I would need DLGuard. It looks it includes the actual website creation, including shopping cart. I need to confirm.
4) Market my product, well; this is what we are here for, right?
Am I missing anything?
Please let me know |
