Submitting the Correct Tax Forms
Commission Junction requires all publishers fill out appropriate tax forms. The following forms are required.

For US Residents: W9 Form: Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification.

For residents of the countries listed below: The W8 Form does not apply. VAT-registered publishers that select these countries must provide their valid Value Added Tax (VAT) number in order to comply with EU tax regulations and ensure proper payment of VAT in the countries where Commission Junction operates (currently France, Germany and the UK).

Note: Publishers that are not VAT-registered are not required to provide a VAT number.

Austria

Belgium

Cyprus

Czech Republic

Denmark

Estonia

Finland

France (under the French umbrella)

Germany

Greece
Hungary

Ireland

Italy

Latvia

Liechtenstein

Lithuania

Luxembourg (under the German umbrella)

Malta

Netherlands
Norway (under the UK umbrella)

Poland

Portugal

Slovakia

Slovenia

Spain

Sweden

Switzerland

United Kingdom

For non-US Residents: W8 Form: Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for United States Tax Withholding. These publishers receive a pop-up message reminding them to submit a W8 Form to Commission Junction.

The W8 Form certifies that as a non-US resident, your earnings are not subject to US tax. Without this form, Commission Junction may be required to withhold 30% of a publisher's payments. The New Publisher Sign-up Email that all publishers receive includes the W8 Form as an attachment. Publishers from the United States receive this same email with the W9 Form attached. Publishers must sign these forms, and send them to Commission Junction either by mail or by fax.

Commission Junction cannot legally advise regarding filling out these forms; however, we can provide the relevant links to the US Government Internal Revenue Service's official Web site, which includes copies of the forms and instructions for completing these forms

Yia Sas, Ti Kaneite?

I read through the thing from Commission Junction and it looks like you need to provide your VAT number. You do not need to fill out the W-9 (non US resident) or the W-8. The W-8 is for people who DO NOT live in the countries listed. And since Greece is listed, you are all set.

I hope this helps.

Parakalo! You live in Greece, right? Are you a US citizen?

If you are a US citizen living in Greece the rules would be a little different.

But if you are a Greek citizen living in Greece, the VAT number is what you'll need. I am not sure where to find it. It would make sense if it were on your ID. Maybe it's on the passport?

SSN and TaxID is only for US citizens.

Parakalo. I am a Greek American. Smile However, I am not fluent. I had to learn German when we moved to Germany so it was hard for me to retain two second languages.

Hi Cheapmarket,

Just noticed this thread, might be able to help out. I'm a UK resident.

Not sure what form VAT takes in Greece, but in the UK you only have to pay VAT if you are earning, or acquiring, over a certain amount per year through your business (think it's £61,000).

If you're not VAT registered, you won't find VAT number anywhere. I haven't filled out a single form for CJ yet...guess the EU does have some benefits after all!

Smile

Cheers,
-Mark

P.S. not sure how necessary it is but I'll tag on the usual disclaimer - this should not be construed as legal advice in any way shape or form Smile

Hey,

In the UK VAT is completely seperate from Income tax.

I've no idea how things work in Greece as far as income declaration etc. but here, as I understand it, I don't have to pay/charge VAT on anything until I'm earning over £61,000. I do have to pay Income tax (20% and then 40% over a certain amount). I then have to pay National Insurance contributions on top of that. ...bloody Gordon Brown!!!

I'd expect Greece to be a similar setup, but please check.

Slightly annoying thing I discovered a couple of months ago - spends on Google AdWords actually count towards my VAT threshold.

Cheers,
-Mark

p.s. same disclaimer applies Wink
