|
|
I see there are various topics about cloaking and linking coded but I still have 2 questions:
1. I tried copying and pasting my first code today into my HTML, but it came out looking exactly as the original code, which is extremely long, and didn't link to anything.
2. What if we would like the link to read something like
Great Product
instead of
www.blahblahblah.com/affiliate number.
I see in Rosalind's book, mention of cloaking software. Would such software allow me create links such as the underlined one above?
Thank you! |

Hi PJP!
Here is a free cloaker that I use on some of my sites. You can check it out at this (non-affiliated) link:
http://www.clickaudit.com/
That should do the trick, or at least give you some insight on what they look like & how they work. There are some free and some paid cloaking programs depending on what your needs/requirements are.
Hope this helps!

The code is easy once you get the hang of it. First you create the shorter URL, which can be done inside your cPanel control center under Domains >> Forwarders.
When you create it, the system will give you the link. You can then put it into a web page or ad like this:
| Code: | | <a href="http://your-site.com/short-link" target="_blank">What to Click On</a> |
If you keep that line of code for reference, you can change the variables in it and create new links any time you want.
Hope that helps.

Very good point, Jim.
I didn't refer that method as he was asking about program(s) to do it, and because (sadly) there are those out there who will view the source code to get the link and bypass the affiliate.
Best Regards,

Hi Griff
Viewing the source code is not an issue when the short URL is created first, then used as the link. There are programs that create those short URLs, but people still should know how to edit the links, especially the part that they want people to click on (link text).

G'day gang
Let me put in a good word here for Jay Jennings' brilliant "Cloak and Tracker" package.
I like it so much that I've made it standard issue for my own affiliate and incubator programs.
Not only is it super-fast for creating cloaked links, including tracking tags, generating the redirection script and uploading to your web host (single-click stuff), but you can create unlimited numbers of profiles to group cloaked links under for specific products, domains, niches, etc.
Downloading and displaying tracking data is also fast and easy, and stats are also displayed as bar graphs and line graphs, in table format, and you can drill down to individual IP addresses of visitors if you need to go that far.
I can set up an export file for my affiliates to import into their own versions, into any profile, and it personalizes all the cloaked links for them automatically. (This is a HUGE time saver and security enhancer.)
On top of that, I can personalize the landing pages with a visitor's name (first and last), email address, etc from personalized links embedded in broadcasts to me lists... so the link is personalized in the email message (a strong incentive to click) using the email system's personalization tags, then, when the prospect arrives at the landing page, their name,e tc appears automatically in the copy... another powerful appeal encouraging engagement and conversion.
On top of all that, it's available for both Windows and Macintosh, is well-documented (including comprehensive video tutorials) and is quick and easy to install and operate.
I can create cloaked links (with tracking tags) on the fly in a forum, create and upload the revised redirection script with just two clicks, and post the new link in a sig file in literally seconds.
If you'd like a real-time demo of its capabilities, PM me for a link.
Members of my own affiliate program can get the software for half-price (my MRR license sets the minimum price at 50%). Again, PM for a link if interested.
