I would like to promote kid's items on my website and I called a publisher to get permission to display a page from their cooking book for kids. They said the only way I could do this is to add a link to their company to purchase the book. They do not participate in the affiliate program.
So, I called Amazon and wanted to link the book to them by not displaying the page but just talking about it and then linking it to the book they have for sale (same book). The first company said that could get me in trouble if I "mentioned" the book and then sent them to amazon.
Are we allowed to do this? Maybe I should just include a whole page of like items and let the people choose. But I really liked one particular book and would like to write an article promoting it and sending a link to buy it. Is it ok to do or not? She has my website and will check on it so I need to be careful how to go about it.
Any suggestions? |

Hi Jodi,
Hmmm... I wonder if the publisher really understood the concept of affiliate marketing.
I'd play it safe, however. Write a book review and post only the cover graphic.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,

Yes, the person did understand affiliation. She just didn't want people to go somewhere else to purchase the book. So If its ok to do a book review and then just show the front book cover that's ok? I'm just afraid she knows of some law or loop hole because she kept saying "you need to check the laws or talk to a lawyer before you post links and stuff.
Thanks! |
