I have been using it now for well over a month and have converted all my websites over to XsitePro Html editor. I have been using FrontPage for years and years and was reluctant to change. Well I bought the program (XsitePro) and started playing around with it and maintaining websites is a breeze. I think the boy has a winner as long as he keeps improving it and adding features, but, as it stands now, it is quite sufficient.

| I'm interested in getting xsitepro. I'm just wondering how much detail can you go into making your site. Can it make the site look professional? Does it have custom table border images? Pre designed layouts? I don't want to spend a lot of money on this if it's not really versatile, while I could get dreamweaver. |

Mike,
If you're at all inclined towards getting Dreamweaver, get Dreamweaver.
The learning curve is steeper, but the flexibility is incredible and you'll be using it for years to come.
You will not be sorry, I promise you.
Cheers,
Ros |

| I love XSite Pro, and have also switched to it from Front Page, But, I am also technically challenged and rubbish at design. Different people prefer to concentrate on different things, and my preferences are writing and marketing. But, if you love design, as Rosalind says, Dreamweaver can do some pretty amazing things. |

I'm with Ros' on this one. Dreamweaver is definitely the most powerful tool out there. I've used it for years. Worth every penny! |

Dreamweaver is of course the A++ of webdesign. Before you go to the expense of buying it download a 30 day trial. I did and it is something I would love in the long term but the learning curve was a little too much for me at the moment. I have also bought xsitepro and I love it. You can do an awful lot with it. There are some templates which come but you can also build your own template and yes it can look professional (well my opinion is it can). You can also build a fairly basic template and then export it to Frontpage and use frontpage to build in anything else you might want. It really has the advantages of being able to be used by both novices and those more experienced.

Thanks for the kind words, Mike.
If you're leaning towards Dreamweaver, don't be too intimidated. If you want flexibility, you'll get it. Also...there are some GREAT books out there to help you learn DW fast. My favorite is Dreamweaver H.O.T. (Hands On Training). I learned with the book back in 1998...and have recommended the H.O.T. series over and over again...mainly because it allows you to "get your hands dirty" as you learn. |
